Thanksgiving
Thank God for the chalet! woo :)I believe all of us have been refreshed in one way or another from it!
below are the highlights/funny occurences of my chalet experience, as far as i can remember...
First Day
1. Waking up from a short nap mrt in the last cabin, last carriage, last seat of the train to see sharon seating on the left nearest seat on my left - she didn't know/no(-tice) me coming in from city hall at all... she was kinda bemused then when i called her. Imagine her reaction when some people got off at tampines(that's when i saw her) and i called her name.
2. Eugene was in the same train too!
3. Lester and Qiaoyong were already there at the mrt. Lester looked like he was dressing up for a badminton game.. can't really remember what was his response when i told him that.
4. Over at the chalet, we were so happy that we were given complementary tickets (one was i think a free drink at a nearby pub, the other was a free ferris wheel ride(more on that later), free tickets to wild wild wet(is it not?) and i can't remember the others) but we didn't have the chance to even use them.
5. The "ego-boosting" ball room card in the game of citadels. Everyone had to say "Yes, your excellency" to me when i called their character card. Eugene was noticeably affected by that hahaha.. but it didn't affect him much anyway since he won the game :)
6. Satisfying our hunger pangs, we went to Gelare at !E hub for waffles in the afternoon. Ok i can't deny that the waffles were awesome... besides, it was tuesday("Not everyday is tuesday" - quote eugene) and waffles are 1/2 priced on tuesdays at gelare). But then i shall still maintain that the ice-cream (i had rum and raisin) was pretty much average. I still love daily scoop(they serve the best ice-cream in sg!)
7. The arrival of "Chef" aka Baker Choong plus buying breakfast stuff(for the next 2 days) at NTUC. He brought a portable cooking stove, gas as well as a wok. We are oh so ready to cook our own breakfast for the next 2 days!!
8. The Ferris Wheel at E! hub - I have a phobia of carnival rides that range from jet planes to vikings to rollercoaster rides so the innocent looking ferris wheel put me off. haha. But sharon begged to differ. She loves these kind of thing and she wanted us to use the complementary tickets. I'm glad we didn't/didn't have the chance to.. haha. And i was just joking with eugene that looking at that ferris wheel makes me think of the mechanical properties of the material used... then he said yeah. looking at that makes him think of creep! haha i burst out in laughter.
9. Games at the arcade! surely brought back some fond memories. My favourite was the ball throwing game and the funny mario car racing game (it takes a picture of the rider(me!) in some funny mario cartoon character frame before the race starts). Our reward for our games at the arcade was 45tickets. Which yielded us a curvy wurvy pencil (which looked as though it couldn't be sharpened) in exchange for the tickets (I wonder who took it back home at the end of the chalet!)
10. The arrival of Jue Xuan. She tried to repeat the same trick on peter(recall the incident at the movies at shaw) by intending to scare him but failed.
11. The FHM playing cards that qiao yong brought (need i say more? haa)
12. Wee Siang's knack of winning me in bridge and his affinity with cards that win me by just a small margin - more on bridge later.
13. The funny game of saboteur
14. Wanting's arrival at 1130pm - glad she was able to join us from the first night onward! (:
Second Day
1. French toast for breakfast and taking longer than usual to cook. We joked that lunch was the next best/viable activity next. BUT IT WAS AWESOME and fun! the whole process plus the company- in fact cooking was one of my favourite activities that we did at the chalet. heh.
2. E!Hub once again to buy stuff for the barbecue on the second night and Wee Siang's idea/decision to sponsor & surprise the rest with a cake from EMICAKES to celebrate sharon lester and wanting's birthday :) He paid the cake money forward and we schemed to find an excuse during the barbecue to go collect the cake later.
3. Lunch at a noodles shop which sells handmade noodles. The uncle at the shop was very nice to give us a free complementary(why does this word keep appearing) jelly dessert as well as agreeing to pose with us in a camera shot. He gave us a goodbye door gift of crackers of which we left behind at the end of the chalet.
4. Marinating the chicken with Qiao Yong and sharon(unwillingly). Haha. Jue Xuan kept taking pictures and managed to take one, according to her looks like a paedophile -looking Qiao Yong.
5. Watching IDENTITY on television and getting so nervy and excited for the contestant. I guess the funniest was identifying the guy with the big ears to be the chimney sweeper (and not the pickpocket)
6. Cycling! abeit only one hr. Qiao Yong learnt how to cycle! haha.
7. Lester's injury on his forehead - apparently he went to swim (only he knows the real reason why hahahaa) and had an accident in the pool as he was deprived of goggles.. ask him to explain to you how he got it. He explained to me with so much zest! hahaa super funny.
8. Barbecue! it was the earliest barbecue i ever had in my life. start 5pm end 9pm. People were raving about the chicken wings:) woo! its a pity we didn't have stingray :(
9. Sharon and her negative affinity with pepper - need i say more? haha!
10. Yaaaaam A+ (should have looked at eugene's expression.. haha)!
11. Celebrating Sharon Wanting and Lester's Birthday courtesy of the Ice-cream tiramisu cake from Wee Siang/EMICAKES. The oldest got to blow first(sharon thought she was the oldest!) :)
12. BRIDGE - Sharon using her handphone to store the no. of sets to play each round. The useless but funny gibberish talk cum weird noises courtesy of pete, myself and wee siang(that also made sharon paranoid!). And who can forget that particular round where Wee Siang called the King of Diamonds as his partner. HAHA!
Third Day
1. Breakfast Bacon and Pancakes! This was by far the best breakfast i ever had in a long long time. The fun, fellowship and company - makes it all the more priceless.
2. The tourist from toronto(isit?) in the train ride back to city hall and peter telling him to go prawning when he asked about fun things to do in sg.
So... what can i say? I thank God for this chalet! amazing. it was fun filled, eventful and memorable, all in a short span of 3 days. I thank God for giving me friends and placing each person into my life. i can't ask for more. priceless!
