Standing Under Pressure

went for wmsg earlier and tam mei was sharing frm Daniel 3 and there were a couple of passages which were brought out that i thought was worth mentioning...

Daniel's friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego consciously stood up against King Nebuchadnezzar when the decree was ordered to bow down to worship the gold statue. They were fully aware of what is to come if they do not obey the King's orders - when under trying situations like this, do we succumb to pressure and give in to our circumstance? Do we compromise or do we actually stand up for what we believe in... regardless of what it is to come next?

S M and A were also convinced that even if God were not save them from the fire, they were fully convinced at God's power over their lives, that he purposed this circumstance for a reason... so when we are under trying circumstances, do we presume to know God's will? or do we really trust that He knows best for us... Job entrusted God's will to be done upon his life, even if he were to endure pain, suffering and hardship.

One more interesting thing was that before being thrown into the fire, S M and A were clothed with lots of clothing, presumably that they will catch fire easily and have them burnt swiftly in seconds... the bible mentions that as they were thrown in, the king saw that they were unbound. which probably meant that the robes they were wearing got burnt away but leaving them unscathed... perhaps God wants us to be thrown into our own 'fires' so that the things that bound us tightly - so that all our strongholds can be burnt away.

Sometimes God chooses to save us in the fire... but many a times I've been guilty of asking God to take trials away from me. I think its hard to embrace trials thats why I often want to choose the easy path. But really wanna pray and ask God to help give me the strength to bear trials cause I know that for everything that happens in life happens for a reason... and God purposed it there.

James 1:2-4 aptly puts... "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."
